About Robert L. Gigliotti

Serving California families since 1991.

For more than three decades, I’ve practiced family law throughout California, handling every kind of case that reaches a courtroom — custody disputes, move-away cases, domestic violence restraining orders, trials involving credibility, evidence, and the hidden dynamics inside a family system. I began practicing in 1991 and have spent my career guiding parents through some of the most difficult decisions they will ever make.

I’ve always believed that people deserve to understand the law that shapes their lives. Not in legal jargon. Not in technical language. But in plain English — through stories, examples, and real-world lessons that come from years inside the courtroom.

That belief is what created Briefly Gigliotti.

Through narrative projects like The MoveAway Project, Never Close Enough, and All About Ralph, I translate lived courtroom experience into stories that make the legal process understandable for parents, grandparents, and anyone navigating family transitions. These projects aren’t fiction — they’re built from patterns I’ve seen, arguments I’ve made, mistakes families regret, and choices that quietly change the outcome of a case.

Whether you are preparing for a hearing, trying to keep your children safe, or simply searching for clarity during a painful transition, my work here is meant to give you direction and understanding long before you stand before a judge.

Family law is always personal.
And every decision — even the small ones — has purpose and consequence.
My goal is to help you see the path ahead before you have to walk it.
